Barona Resort and Casino, located in the Barona Indian Reservation in northeastern San Diego County in California, is owned and operated by the Barona Group of Capitan Grande Band of Mission Indians.
With the current drought and water restrictions, creative approaches to water conservation, site and landscape renovation and maintenance practices were introduced, a holistic approach to a sustainable landscape maintenance program. Several of the proposed savings solutions on the project included preliminary field demonstrations in conjunction with Barona’s facilities maintenance staff. It will not only maximize water conservation, it will reduce exterior waste streams, green waste and improve storm water management and re-use. It will also result in a more efficient use of landscape maintenance personnel and potentially minimize the requirement for paving repairs and resurfacing in the future.
