Touted as
the “front door” for people traveling between San Diego and Tijuana, The
Outlets at the Border is a new outlet mall designed to connect with the new
pedestrian border crossing at San Ysidro and the neighboring Las Americas
Premium Outlets.
Outlets at the Border is a 7.7 acre expansion to this 51.8 acre, 125 store premium retail project on the US/Mexico border. The expansion builds upon the Spanish/Mexican Mercado theme of the existing mall by developing a central open-air market with courtyards, water features and numerous pedestrian amenities.
In addition to providing an exciting experience for the shopping public, the project includes integration of the San Ysidro/Tijuana pedestrian border crossing, an MTS transit center and accommodates Border Patrol security requirements where the site abuts the US/Mexico border fence. Previous phases included over 2,000 feet of streetscape, a bus stop, street trees and other landscape amenities, all prepare as separate public improvement plans.
